Julie Wecker was born in Millaa Millaa and is married with 4 children. She moved around a lot before having children from Murgon, Roma, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Gladstone, Sarina and finally to Redcliffe where she has been living for the last 20 years. In 2000 the family spent a year in Switzerland where they lived in a small rural village and travelled to many places in Europe. Place has been a significant influence in her work.
For Julie Wecker creating art is an interpretive and imaginative process. She sees something that moves her and begins to experiment with it.
Changing, loosening, freeing, colouring.
Equally happy with lovely loose watercolour washes as with thick impasto oils,
her work is colourful and expressive, full of movement and beauty, celebrating significant moments, places and people in our lives. Ultimately her work is an expression of thanks to God, the great Creator.
